The Datang Everbright City in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province , received more than 400,000 visitors on June 25-27 during the Duanwu Festival, also known as Dragon Boat Festival.
In the newly established Tang Food Square, the cuisine being served and the ladies there wearing the costumes of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) were among the most striking sights.
The activities taking place in the square and elsewhere allowed tourists and citizens alike to experience the customs of the Tang Dynasty, officials said.
Datang Everbright City is located at the foot of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Yanta district in Xi'an. It is one of 11 in the first batch of pilot pedestrian streets, or pedestrian malls, approved by the Ministry of Commerce.
Taking the Tang Dynasty culture as its design theme, the pedestrian mall strives to create a one-stop consumer mecca that integrates shopping, dining, entertainment, leisure, tourism and business.
