With a theme of "Intelligent Integration of Culture and Tourism," the 2019 World Culture and Tourism Forum officially opened in Chanba Ecological District, Xi'an on Oct 23.
Hosted by the Xi’an municipal people's government and Ctrip, an online travel agency, the four-day event will feature discussions on a variety of topics regarding inbound tourism, destination marketing and technology, shared accommodation, as well as the culture and travel industry.

In his speech, Fang Guanghua, vice governor of Shaanxi province, said that Xi'an Xianyang International Airport has implemented a 144-hour transit visa-free policy, bolstering opportunities for inbound tourism. He added that Xi'an is able to tourists its rich experience in cultural tourism.

Liang Jianzhang, co-founder and chairman of Ctrip, said that through a series of activities and marketing, Ctrip will promote the Xi'an tourism route with its historical features and local characteristics to the world.

In recent years, relying on its abundant resources, such as its rich history and culture, as well as its attractive landscapes, Xi'an has aimed to build itself into a world-class tourist destination city.
In 2018, the city received a total of 247 million tourists from home and abroad. The total tourism revenue amounted to 255.48 billion yuan ($36.17 billion), and the added value of its tourism industry accounted for 8.74 percent of Xi'an's GDP.
