This year, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, will implement 274 green development projects and 221 of them have already started construction.

As of March, the city has added 1.47 million square meters of green urban space, completing 29 percent of its annual target. The newly added area of green parks covers 798,700 sq m – some 27 percent of the annual target – while 89,800 arbors have been planted, reaching 45 percent of the goal.
In addition, 42.88 kilometers of urban greenways have been established, 43 percent of the annual task, while 20 pocket parks have been completed, 20 percent of the annual task.
Since mid-March, all districts, counties and development zones in Xi'an have encouraged departments and various industries, as well as volunteers, property companies and community residents, to participate in environmental sanitation, landscaping and garbage classification, to create a clean and beautiful urban environment.
