Throughout the year, among the 45 monitoring sections for the 19 water bodies monitored by the city, 45 met or exceeded the assessment requirements.
In 2021, Xi'an will continue to promote high-quality economic development while also prioritizing environmental protection.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the city will resolutely curb the blind development of high-energy-consuming and high-emission projects and optimize the transportation structure.
The coordinated control of PM2.5 and ozone is one of the key goals of the city's air pollution prevention and control plan.
The city will effectively improve its atmosphere environmental quality by establishing an action plan for the continuous improvement of air quality, taking PM2.5 and ozone control as the core and the comprehensive control of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds as the starting point.

Regarding the prevention and control of water pollution, Xi'an will do an excellent job in reporting the water quality monitoring data of key rivers and lakes and solve the problem of poor water quality in some sections.
Meanwhile, the city will also increase its environmental protection work in the Qinling Mountains.
