Xi'an, capital city of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, is pushing ahead with efforts to go green, according to a recently issued implementation plan for fall and winter.
The city will complete the task of expanding its environmentally friendly development to a high standard, to ensure that the annual cumulative increase and improvement of green areas will exceed 10 million square meters and no less than 300,000 trees will be planted in the current year.
Xi'an will focus on important urban parks and squares. It will accelerate the establishment and upgrading of urban parks, green squares and pocket parks, beef up their daily management and maintenance and continue to improve the general quality of landscaping.
The city will also improve the layout of important road intersections and establish no less than 10 large flower beds downtown.
In addition, bridges will be beautified, as well as viaducts, overpasses, pedestrian overpasses and new urban expressway overpasses in the main urban areas.
Meanwhile, the city will encourage residents to beautify their windowsills and terraces.
