Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, has recently rolled out measures to support the development of the conference and exhibition industry, attracting well-known conferences and exhibitions at home and abroad to settle in the city.
The government will award investors 200,000 yuan ($30,738.42) for newly built or rebuilt venues with an area of 5,000 square meters to 10,000 sq m. Those with an area of more than 10,000 sq m will be awarded 300,000 yuan.

A maximum of 200,000 yuan will be given to festival activities that are closely related to local industries or resources and attract more than 5,000 participants. The events need to be held by the city's districts, counties and development zones to be eligible for the award.
A support subsidy of 10,000 yuan will be given to new exhibition projects organized by the city's convention and exhibition enterprises. These projects must be in line with Xi'an's modern industrial system and have an exhibition area between 6,000 sq m and 10,000 sq m.
For exhibitions with an area exceeding 10,000 sq m, the upper limit of the support subsidy amount will increase by 100,000 yuan for every 5,000 sq m of exhibition area, and the maximum amount will not exceed 3 million yuan.
The city will support the innovative development of the conference and exhibition industry. It will support the merger and reorganization of convention and exhibition enterprises to become bigger and stronger.
After a given enterprise is reorganized, if the turnover of the current year increases by more than 5 million yuan or more than 10 million yuan, a one-time payment of 200,000 yuan or 300,000 yuan will be awarded, respectively.

Environmentally friendly exhibition activities held in the city that cover an area of more than 10,000 sq m will enjoy a support subsidy of 100,000 yuan.
A one-time reward of 300,000 yuan will be given to local brand exhibitions held in three or more cities across the country with a total annual exhibition area of more than 100,000 sq m.
In addition, Xi'an will encourage the internationalization of the conference and exhibition industry. A one-time reward of 300,000 yuan will be given to the city's convention and exhibition enterprises newly certified by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry and International Congress & Convention Association.
Meanwhile, Xi'an will give a one-time reward of 500,000 yuan to those well-known international and domestic exhibition companies that have registered and settled in the city. The firms should have a registered capital of 5 million yuan, establish independent legal entities and successfully hold exhibitions.
