As of July 24, the number of foreign nationals entering and exiting via Xi'an port had exceeded 300,000 this year, hitting a record high and representing a 15.9 percent year‑on‑year increase. Foreign nationals accounted for 30.6 percent of total inbound and outbound travelers, up 4 percentage points from the same period last year.

A suite of policies including mutual and unilateral visa‑free arrangements between China and multiple other countries has been implemented at Xi'an Port this year. The Shaanxi General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection has provided streamlined services for over 120,000 inbound foreign visitors benefiting from visa‑free policies. The number of visa‑free arrivals rose by 31 percent year‑on‑year, making up 87 percent of all inbound foreign visitors.

The Shaanxi Exit‑Entry continues to refine customs clearance facilitation measures. It has introduced one‑stop processing for temporary entry permits and online submission of foreign nationals' arrival cards, achieving a 96-percent online‑submission coverage rate and cutting on‑site waiting times for passengers.

Multiple airlines have boosted capacity at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport in summer and increased flight frequencies on routes linking Xi'an with Seoul, Singapore, and Almaty. According to forecasts by the Shaanxi Exit‑Entry Bureau, the airport is expected to handle more than 370,000 passenger trips and over 2,000 inbound and outbound flights this summer.

Lyu Bin, director of Shaanxi Exit‑Entry, said that the station will assess passenger flow based on flight information forecasts and anticipate inbound‑outbound peak hours in advance to ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance for passengers.
