Since the beginning of this year, Xi'an has made significant strides in promoting the high-quality development of its open economy. By building platforms, targeting key areas, and expanding markets, the city has maintained steady growth in foreign trade.
From January to October, the city's total foreign trade reached 339.68 billion yuan ($46.69 billion), a year-on-year increase of 15.6 percent. Specifically, exports surged to 227.8 billion yuan, up 20.9 percent, while imports grew by 6.1 percent to 111.87 billion yuan.
Notably, trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and South Korea saw increases of 25.6 percent and 27.5 percent, respectively.

Last month, the 7th China International Import Expo showcased Xi'an's achievements in electronic information, high-end equipment, biomedicine, renewable energy, and modern logistics. The city secured contracts worth 6.98 billion yuan and sent over 1,500 representatives from 400 enterprises.
Notable events like the "Chang'an Dialogue" 2024 Xi'an and Multinational Companies Shanghai Forum facilitated strategic partnerships with companies from the Yangtze River Delta region.

Xi'an also excelled at the 136th Canton Fair, setting records for booth and participant numbers. The Xi'an delegation signed contracts worth over $50 million in intended orders on the opening day, up 7.25 percent year-on-year. Xi'an's goal of participating in 98 international exhibitions this year has further integrated the city's industries, such as electronics, automobiles, and renewable energy, into global supply chains.
Also, cross-border e-commerce has become a cornerstone of Xi'an's trade transformation. From January to October, the city's cross-border e-commerce transactions totaled 13.1 billion yuan, with exports of 11.5 billion yuan, marking a 21.08-percent rise.

In the burgeoning secondhand car export market, Xi'an leads with its one-stop export service center, launched in February. Integrating customs, logistics, and tax rebates, the center has processed nearly 1,000 vehicles worth over 200 million yuan, bolstering the city's position as a hub for global automotive trade.
With continued innovations and strategic initiatives, Xi'an is poised for sustained growth in foreign trade and international cooperation.
