The Xi'an-Xianyang integrated transportation network is rapidly advancing, with major transportation projects in the Xixian New Area steadily improving efficiency and delivering tangible benefits to the public.

The Majiabao-Jingyang Expressway, an 8.3-kilometer arterial route, is set to open by the end of this month. It is part of Shaanxi province's 2018-2035 road network plan andwill link Xi'an Xianyang International Airport with the Baotou-Maoming Expressway. Upon completion, this expressway is expected to cut northbound travel time from Xi'an by about 20 minutes and offer seamless access to both the Baotou-Maoming Expressway and airport expressways.

In addition, the expansion of the 24.38-kilometer Xi'an-Xingping Expressway is rapidly progressing. Once completed, this expansion will be key in smoothing traffic between Xi'an and Xianyang. It will ease congestion and offer more convenient travel for residents of both cities.

The Xixian New Area has completed two major connectivity projects this year and opened eight dead-end highways, further linking Xi'an and Xianyang. By the end of 2025, the region plans to add three major interconnection roads, nine new roads linking urban sectors, and seven internal road connections, further enhancing accessibility.

The opening of Xi'an Metro Line 1 and the Xianyang High-Tech Bridge has also improved public transport connectivity, bringing the two cities even closer. Since April, the city has implemented a toll reduction on the Xi'an Ring Expressway, cutting annual fees from 600 yuan($82.84) to 300 yuan. This has made commuting more affordable and added another layer of convenience for residents.
