Since the start of the year, Xi'an – capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province – has introduced a raft of measures, designed to support jobs and expand employment.
By the end of May this year, 74,800 new jobs had been created in the urban areas. Moreover, some 22,500 unemployed people were reemployed and 3,709 people with employment difficulties were helped to find positions.

In 2022, the total number of college and university graduates in Xi'an is expected to reach 290,000, a year-on-year increase of 16 percent and a record high. As a result, the challenge for these young people to find employment will be bigger than ever.
In response, the city has tried a range of means to promote the employment of graduates.
This year, public employment talent service agencies at all levels organized 168 recruitment drives, providing 403,400 jobs.
The city has distributed 5.27 million yuan in campus recruitment subsidies to 45 colleges and universities, supporting them during the period to hold 484 recruitment activities.
Meanwhile, a total of 32.9 million yuan in subsidies had been issued to graduates willing to work and start businesses in Xi'an, as of the end of May, benefiting 151,300 people.

In another initiative, eight livestreaming activities for Xi'an to promote jobs were staged on June 20-23 by China Media Group Mobile.
By explaining Xi'an's recruitment and employment policies online, the activities are said to have built a talent hiring platform for enterprises.
Nearly 1,000 companies participated in the livestreamings, offering more than 50,000 high-quality jobs – including algorithm researcher positions, automation engineer and software engineer posts.
Moving forwards, plans are for Xi'an to continue to support entrepreneurship to drive employment and to ensure policies for stabilizing and increasing employment to benefit more groups.
