In 2021, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, created 159,800 new jobs in urban areas and helped 489,000 migrant workers return to work, according to a news conference held on March 1.
Also, throughout the year, more than 425,600 vocational skills training opportunities were provided by the city, and more than 65,000 people have found employment via entrepreneurship.
The total number of talents in the city reached 3.56 million, including newly added 44,400 professional and technical talents, 8,019 newly recruited primary and secondary school and kindergarten teachers, and 1,340 newly recruited medical and health talents.
Xi'an is currently home to 2,500 human resources service agencies.
The city's basic old-age pension, unemployment, and work-related injury policies covered 8.14 million people, 2.6 million people, and 2.99 million people, respectively, in 2021.
Xi'an also raised the minimum wage to 1,950 yuan ($308.95) per month in the year.
It promoted action to eradicate wage arrears, coordinated the payment of 436 million yuan in wages to 49,100 workers, and handled 27,000 labor and personnel disputes with an arbitration settlement rate of 98.72 percent.
In addition, 11.05 million social security cards were issued to residents in the city in 2021.
In 2022, relevant human resources and social security departments in Xi'an will continue working to stabilize employment.
