Eight projects from Xi'an's Xihang University have been approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), marking a new record for the university.

The projects focus on cutting-edge research fields, including energy‑storage ceramics, composite materials, and new-energy materials. Aligning with trends in basic research and industrial innovation demands, they demonstrate the university's strength in fundamental research and the innovative potential of its youth research workforce.

To further optimize its disciplinary layout, Xihang University has consolidated its foundation for basic research and improved support mechanisms for research project incubation and application in recent years. By utilizing its disciplinary strengths, it has stepped up incubation and fostered a sound research environment, greatly motivating faculty members to apply for research grants and improving project competitiveness.

As its research incubation system continues to improve, the scale and quality of the university's research grant applications are steadily growing, with the number of NSFC applications in 2026 rising by 11 percent year on year, while applications for youth projects increased by 16 percent.

The university will strengthen management and service support for ongoing projects, consolidate the foundation for scientific and technological innovation, and produce high‑quality research outputs, fueling its institutional development and disciplinary building progress.
