The 2024 "perceiving China – appreciating technological innovation, experiencing Chinese smart manufacturing" social practice event was held on June 11 in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
The event was hosted by the China Scholarship Council and organized by Northwestern University, with nearly 50 international students from 14 countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Mexico, participating.
The international students first visited BYD (Xi'an) Co located in Huyi district, Xi'an. They had the opportunity to tour the facilities and gain a detailed understanding of BYD's manufacturing processes and the cutting-edge technologies of new energy vehicles.

They experienced BYD's self-developed autonomous SkyShuttle urban rail transit, experiencing firsthand the convenience and comfort brought by BYD's smart manufacturing prowess and technological innovation.
Following the tour, the international students engaged in a discussion with BYD staff members, delving into topics such as enterprise development, employment guidance, internships, and university-enterprise cooperation.

The international students also visited Xi'an Giant Biogene Co, learning about the company's development history, modern production lines, advanced research and development center, product development, and the situation regarding technological innovation and technology transfer.
The event not only broadened the international students' horizons, but also sparked their interest and confidence in technological innovation. They said they hope to join the world of technological innovation in the future to help improve people's lives.
