Livestream on Terracotta Warriors restoration draws attention

Xidian University, the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, and the Embassy of China in the Commonwealth of Dominica came together to hold a livestream event on the Terracotta Warriors and Horses at the museum on May 13 to celebrate International Museum Day, which fell on May 18.

The livestream event was hosted by Dong Yongying, an associate professor of the School of Foreign Languages at Xidian University and a visiting researcher at the museum.

Nearly 100 people watched the livestream, including students from the Confucius classroom at Dominica State College, as well as students from Sidwell Friends School and National Cathedral School in the United States.

During the livestream, renowned cultural relics restoration expert Lan Desheng showed the students the whole restoration process of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses. He also gave a detailed overview of the archaeological excavation, protection, and restoration processes of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, as well as the historical, artistic, and scientific values of the cultural relics.

Via video link, Lin Xianjiang, Chinese ambassador to the Commonwealth of Dominica, said that the Terracotta Warriors and Horses are a symbol of the splendid civilization in ancient China and a treasure of Chinese art.

He added that holding different cultural activities can enhance exchanges between people of various countries and promote multicultural integration.

Zhang Jincheng, vice president of Xidian University, gave an introduction of Xi'an and the university in his speech, as well as invited students to travel to Xi'an, study at the university, and experience the Chinese culture firsthand.

Tian Jing, deputy director of the museum, sincerely welcomed students to visit the museum and feel the charm of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses in person.
