Xidian University – located in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province – celebrated its 90th anniversary on Oct 31 and held a construction development conference.

The event was presided over by Zha Xianyou, Party secretary of Xidian University, who read the congratulatory letter from the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Before the school anniversary, alumni, academicians, well-known experts and scholars sent congratulatory letters and videos to the university, heaping high praises on its glorious history and achievements.

More than 40 overseas university presidents and cooperative experts also sent videos to the university.

Zhao Yide, deputy secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and governor of Shaanxi, congratulated all teachers, students and staff of Xidian University, as well as alumni at home and abroad.

He expressed the hope that the alumni will work to bring more outstanding talent, teams and enterprises to Shaanxi.

Yang Zongkai, president of Xidian University, said in his speech that the university will work to become a world-class university and focus on innovation.

At the event, the university and Xi'an High-tech Industry Development Zone also signed a cooperation agreement to jointly build a transformation platform for the Qinchuangyuan innovation-driven platform's achievements and an electronic information production and education integration platform.
