Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications (XUPT) is a university with a major focus on engineering, featuring information science and technology, with coordinated development of engineering, management, science, economics, literature, law and arts.
It is an important hub for the cultivation of top professionals in the information industry in the country, especially in Northwest China.
Located in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, XUPT covers an area of more than 100 hectares, with two campuses in the Chang'an and Yanta districts.
With current full-time student enrollment of 18,000, XUPT maintains 46 undergraduate degree programs and 19 master’s degree programs.
It has established two national engineering laboratories, one national experimental teaching demonstration center, one national engineering practice education center, one national university off-campus practice education base and 23 provincial and ministerial key laboratories and research centers.
Focusing on the subject of information science and technology, XUPT has become a specialist in the research direction of communications special integrated circuit design, mobile communications, image processing, information security and the information industry economy.
As the only university in Northwest China undertaking the training tasks for the Bangkok-based Asia-Pacific Telecommunity and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, it has trained groups of senior technicians and administrators in the telecoms industry for those bodies.
It has established cooperative relations with more than 40 universities and academic institutions in Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and Kyrgyzstan.
The university has also built strategic cooperative partnerships in scientific research and talent training with US tech giant Cisco, as well as Indian industrial group Tata and domestically renowned enterprises including Huawei Company, ZTE Cooperation, China Telecom, China Mobile and China Post.
Over the past 60 years since the university was founded, it has educated more than 90,000 graduates with the majority working in communications and tech enterprises, among them, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Post, Huawei, Datang Telecom, ZTE Cooperation, Alibaba and Tencent.
