In the fall of 2023, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, will open the doors of 26 newly built, renovated and expanded primary and secondary schools and kindergartens, adding 33,000 new study positions.
The development is expected to further enrich Xi'an's educational resources, so that more children can go to good schools and enjoy high-quality basic education on their doorstep.
Currently, construction of the school projects is progressing smoothly.

The branch school of the No 7 Primary School in the Xi'an Economic and Technological Development Zone is one of the 26 new schools. Its main building has been capped and the construction has now moved on to interior and exterior decorating.
The school will be put into use in September this year, with 18 classes planned and 810 study positions to be provided.
It will also be equipped with multiple functional departments, reading rooms and smart classrooms. There will also be academic report halls, multi-functional meeting rooms and an indoor basketball hall, to meet the complete development needs of students.
In recent years, Xi'an has regarded education as its largest social project and it rolled out the Three-Year Action Plan for Improving Basic Education in Xi'an in 2019.
In the past three years, 454 schools have been newly built, renovated and expanded, adding 430,400 study positions.
