The opening ceremony for the new outpatient department of the Xixian hospital district of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital was held on Dec 28.

It was held in Xixian New Area – co-developed by the cities of Xi'an and Xianyang in Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

The Xixian hospital district is the largest public hospital in Xixian New Area that was constructed by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital and Qinhan New City in Xixian New Area.

Based on a large comprehensive layout, the hospital focuses on building 16 regional leading medical technology platforms. It plans to open 35 specialized outpatient clinics and 27 ward units, with a maximum of 1,500 beds.

Some wards will open clinics in May next year, while 30 specialist outpatient clinics and 15 wards will operate by the end of next year.

After the opening of the outpatient department, experts from the departments of internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, general practice and traditional Chinese medicine from Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital will be stationed in Xixian hospital district every Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.

In case of critical illnesses, patients can also be transferred to the main hospital district of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital for treatment through a fast-track channel.
