The new hospital area of Xi'an People's Hospital (Xi'an Fourth Hospital) officially opened to the public on Nov 13 in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

Located in Xi'an Aerospace New City, the new hospital area will provide medical treatment to residents of southern Xi'an.

The new hospital area began trial operations on Oct 10, 2020, and hospitalized patients began being admitted that same day. The first surgery operation was successfully carried out on Oct 29, 2020.

On March 1, 2021, the new hospital area entered full trial operations, with 843 beds and 46 operating rooms available.

It has opened 29 departments and 20 wards, including ophthalmology, gynecology, obstetrics, neurology, kidney and urology, pulmonary, otolaryngology and geriatrics.

A trauma center, a stroke center and a chest pain center have been established as well, and preventive health care measures, such as health checkups, child health care, and women's health care, have been carried out.

In addition, the new hospital area has established the first intelligent integrated image reading room in Shaanxi and an urban nucleic acid testing base with a total area of 720 square meters (30,000 samples per day).

After one year of trial operations, a total of 170,600 outpatient visits in the new hospital area have been made, 11,000 patients have been discharged, and 10,200 surgical operations have been performed on discharged patients.
