In order to reduce the risk of infection, professor Lyu Yi and his team from the Health Science Center of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) achieved a world first when they successfully developed a new technology to introduce tubes into or through the trachea using fully magnetic navigation.

The achievement was based on the success of repeated animal experiments and simulated human experiments and the technology was successfully applied in clinical practice on July 23, making it the first of its kind in the world.

It abandons the current mode of conventional laryngoscope tracheal intubation and does not need to open up the airway.

It is simple to operate and easy to master, which will help fight the COVID-19 epidemic and improve first aid, while reducing the workload of anesthesiologists.
