To meet the commuting needs of large communities and suburban residents, Xi'an Public Transport Group has introduced mini buses on over 30 routes, including S9, 123, 133, and 343.

Although larger buses accommodate more passengers, they require more space for turns and U-turns, making them unsuitable for narrow streets.
One route, 133, was previously operated with full-sized buses, but illegally parked cars often blocked the way. With smaller and more agile buses, drivers can more easily navigate congested roads, improving efficiency.
Nicknamed "baby buses", these BYD B60 models feature compact bodies, low energy consumption, and high maneuverability. They are ideal for narrow streets and newly developed areas with lower transit demand. They also improve access to markets, schools, hospitals, and residential areas, enhancing passengers' convenience.

"These are micro-routes – short-distance, fast-turnover lines that fill gaps left by traditional buses and integrate seamlessly with metro services," said Dong Longhui, deputy director of the operation department at Xi'an Public Transport Group.
These baby buses, equipped with smart technology, also feature electronic rearview systems, advanced safety assistance, priority seating, wheelchair-accessible areas, and a low-floor design for easy boarding.
Xi'an Public Transport Group continuously innovates its transit network with on-demand and short-route services. By optimizing stops and enhancing metro connections, Xi'an is expanding mobility options and making public transit safer, more efficient, and more accessible.
