Xi'an is set to build a high-speed rail hub network, forming a preliminary one-day high-speed rail circle from Xi'an to major provincial capitals. The city boasts the shortest average distance and lowest average cost to major cities across the country.
Xi'an's high-speed rail and air travel routes can reach 85 percent of the cities in country. The China-Europe Chang'an freight train leads the country in actual operating trips, load rate, and freight volume.

Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is one of China's eight major regional aviation hubs, and it is a significant aviation port in China. The airport has been granted national support to open up the fifth freedom traffic rights.
The airport operates 348 passenger routes, 17 cargo routes, and 64 international routes, forming an international route network that connects countries along the modern Silk Road, Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, America, and Australia.
Urban transportation
Xi'an has plans to construct a total of 18 metro lines. Lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 are in operation, with five lines currently under construction. Urban transportation payment methods include the "Yikatong", Alipay, and WeChat pay, making travel more convenient.
