Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, saw its online transaction turnover increase by 20.58 year-on-year in 2023, totaling at 747.6 billion yuan ($104.46 billion). This accounted for 67.16 percent of the province's total, and showed an increase of 2.11 percentage points from the same period last year.

In 2023, the number of e-commerce express parcels delivered in Xi'an totaled 682.57 million, and the city achieved online retail sales of 117.02 billion yuan in physical goods.
Among the physical goods, food and health care, 3C digital products, and household products had obvious advantages, achieving sales of 35.62 billion yuan, 15.92 billion yuan, and 12.16 billion yuan, respectively.
The sales proportions of online catering, beauty care, and food and health care increased by 0.74, 0.32, and 0.27 percentage points, respectively.
Throughout the year, the online retail sales of services reached a combined total of 26.35 billion yuan. Online travel, leisure and entertainment, and life services achieved 14.34 billion yuan, 3.55 billion yuan, and 3.54 billion yuan in sales, respectively.
In addition, the online retail sales of agricultural products in Xi'an amounted to 13.03 billion yuan, up by 16.33 percent year-on-year. This is 0.38 percentage points higher than that of Shaanxi's total. The top-ranking agricultural products in Xi'an were fruits, nuts, and grains and oil, with sales of 8.4 billion yuan, 981 million yuan, and 874 million yuan, respectively.
The online retail sales that stemmed from livestreams in Xi'an came in at 11.72 billion yuan, with a total of 724 million viewers and 78,700 livestreams. The top-selling products via livestreams are food, health care products, clothing, shoes and bags, and household items.
