Datang Everbright City – a pedestrian street in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) style in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province – has promoted the integration of culture, tourism and commerce and stimulated consumption, putting its cultural tourism industry on a high-quality development path.

Over the past two years, the pedestrian street has been making efforts to develop a nighttime economy cultural tourism consumption cluster.

A series of special activities to help the street recover from the COVID-19 pandemic have been launched.

Jiao Liansheng, the owner of the Yanliang Shadow Puppets Store at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Hall of Datang Everbright City, is a practitioner of Yanliang Shadow Puppetry.

The various handmade shadow puppet figures in the store are vivid and eye-catching.

Jiao said he believed that the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage should not only keep pace with the times and continue to evolve, but also expand in terms of interactive experience and tourist participation, so as to create a channel for tourists to have an in-depth understanding of intangible cultural heritage.

From 2021 to 2022, Datang Everbright City developed and launched more than 100 cultural and creative products with three themes: Tang culture, Shaanxi characteristic culture and online pop culture.

In cooperation with Xi'an Chaowuzhi Cultural Creativity Co, the pedestrian street has jointly created an IP brand revolving around Tang culture, covering more than 20 categories such as Tang clothing, Tang food, and Tang makeup.

New performing arts were also launched at Datang Everbright City, such as the roly-poly performance.

Additionally, Datang Everbright City has accelerated efforts to boost consumption, experience, and services for cultural tourism projects, and advanced the collective construction of smart cultural tourism blocks to contribute to the development of high-quality cultural tourism businesses.
