At the invitation of the Chinese Consulate General in Lyon, a cultural delegation from Xi'an recently participated in the Lyon Consular Festival in France and organized an exhibition showcasing Xi'an's intangible cultural heritage.
The Consular Festival took place at the Place Bellecour in Lyon, with a focus on handicraft displays. Consulates from over 50 countries in Lyon, along with international organizations, engaged in exhibitions and cultural exchanges.
Established in 1980, the Lyon Consular Festival is one of the largest celebratory events in Lyon. It aims to showcase the customs and cultures of various countries through their consular missions in Lyon and is held annually.

During the event, Xi'an presented some of its cultural heritage items, such as Qin Opera facial makeup, clay flute craftsmanship, Xi'an paper cutting, Guanzhong shadow puppetry, enamelware craftsmanship, and traditional nuclear carving techniques. These displays captivated numerous Lyon residents, who paused to admire and appreciate the cultural richness on display.
Lyon residents and visitors marveled at the intricacies of Qin Opera costumes up close and expressed awe at the finesse of enamelware and shadow puppetry, fostering a deep interest in Xi'an's historical and cultural heritage.
Furthermore, the Xi'an delegation engaged in discussions with Xi'an's friendly exchange city of Amiens in France, agreeing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of education, sports, culture and tourism, technology, and trade.
