A batch of returned cross‑border e‑commerce goods from Hong Kong passed through customs clearance procedures at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport on Aug 31, marking Shaanxi province's first goods return service for cross‑border e‑commerce retail exports.
Previously exported to overseas markets via other ports, the goods were returned due to return‑and‑exchange requests from overseas consumers. Under the supervision of Xi'an Xianyang Airport Customs, the 50 consignments cleared customs and were transferred to the cross-border e-commerce supervision site in Airport New City for follow-up handling.
The traditional return model for cross-border e-commerce exports requires goods to be shipped back to the original port of export, with constrained return routes, high logistics costs, and long turnaround cycles that have long posed pain points for cross-border e-commerce enterprises.
Airport New City, working with Xi'an Xianyang Airport Customs, has taken the lead this year in exploring a new cross-customs return model for cross-border e-commerce export goods. Under the new regulation, exported goods may choose any qualified port nationwide for return procedures, effectively addressing bottlenecks in the industry's reverse-logistics chain.
Following the launch of the cross-customs return services, enterprises can select Airport New City as their return port based on their airline networks and cost-optimization principles. Capital and time costs are reduced by roughly 50 percent, and inventory turnover efficiency improves significantly.
Using the combined strengths of bonded functions and port resources in Airport New City, Xixian New Area will deepen coordination with Xi'an Xianyang Airport Customs to further amplify the benefits of cross-border e-commerce policies and bolster comprehensive supporting services, attracting more leading export enterprises and boosting Shaanxi's high-quality opening-up.
